IT Non-Catalog Computer Lab Scheduling

Non-catalog classes are defined as classes that do not appear in the Northern Illinois University (NIU) Registration and Records Course Catalog.  IT managed labs are available for a charge on a limited basis for workshops, seminars and other instructional purposes.  The scheduling request must be received one week prior to the event to allow adequate processing time.  Earlier notification will increase the likelihood that lab space and resources can be secured.

The IT lab environment includes:

  • Windows XP Operating System
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Software Suite (including Excel and Access)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (allows web browsing and e-mail access)

Note:  In accordance with the NIU Acceptable Use Policy, every customer using a networked computer must have an individually assigned AccountID (student Z-ID).  If members of the workshop or class do not have a NIU AccountID (student Z-ID), station ID's can be assigned so access to computing services can be granted.

To schedule a non-catalog class in an IT computer lab, email For questions, call the IT Academic Computing Operations and Support Office at 815-753-5700.
