Computer Lab Scheduling

Please Note:  These instructions are for scheduling classes listed in the NIU Registration and Records Course Catalog only. If the class is not listed in the Course Catalog, see below.

Semester long reservations

Contact your department secretary. The secretary will work with the Academic Computing Operations and Support (ACOS) Office to reserve a room. The room location will be entered into MyNIU by the department secretary and will show as the course location.

One-time reservations

Email or call 815-753-5700. Please include the number of students, time, date(s), the need for a projector, what software will be used and the course name. The ACOS Office will confirm the reservation if space is available.

If there is a scheduling conflict, call the IT ACOS Office at 815-753-5700 during normal business hours.

Schedule a Computer Lab for a Non-Catalog Class

DoIT-managed labs are available for a charge on a limited basis for workshops, seminars and other instructional purposes.The scheduling request must be received one week prior to the event to allow adequate processing time. Earlier notification will increase the likelihood that a lab can reserved.

  • DoIT lab computers have a standard image.
  • In accordance with the NIU Acceptable Use Policy, every customer using a networked computer must have an individually assigned NIU Account. If attendees do not have an NIU Account, then workstation ID's can be set up ahead of time.

The IT lab environment includes:

  • Windows XP Operating System
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Software Suite (including Excel and Access)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (allows web browsing and e-mail access)
