Each HIPAA Covered Component at NIU designates a Contact Person(s) who coordinates with the HIPAA Privacy Officer and HIPAA Security Officer concerning the implementation of requirements under HIPAA and HIPAA Rules. These persons and others appointed by the President comprise this HIPAA Steering Committee that provides cross-functional governance for HIPAA-related compliance and concerns.
The Committee oversees staff training efforts, internal security and privacy assessments, and work together on ad hoc duties to ensure compliance with all privacy and security requirements.
