Scheduled Kaltura Lecture Capture/Stream Quick Guide

These instructions describe the steps for scheduling lecture capture/stream recording using Kaltura Classroom.

Before following these instructions, you should:

  • Request a scheduled Kaltura Lecture Capture/Stream at least two business day prior to session
  • Recieve a confirmation from DoIT that your session had been scheduled
  • If using autopublish to course, setup Kaltura Media Gallery in the course
  • If using one-way stream in addition to lecture capture, direct student’s attention to Kaltura Media Gallery for live stream at designated time

Starting and Conducting Your Class Session

To participate in a scheduled/automated session, do the following:

  1. Arrive early to the classroom, be sure the classroom PC is on and logged in.
  2. Minimize any other streaming tools that auto launch (e.g. Teams, Zoom).
  3. Locate the room microphone, turn it on if necessary.
  4. Optionally, use the desktop Kaltura Classroom icon to launch/open Kaltura Classroom and click the Calendar button left menu to ensure your recording is scheduled. If your session is not on the schedule, either call the support phone number provided at the PC station or see the instructions for initiating an Ad Hoc Kaltura Lecture Capture.
  5. Do not modify the input configuration in the Kaltura Classroom interface. If you believe there is a scheduling or configuration problem, call the support phone number provided at the PC station.
  6. You may start the session early using the Start Now button on the Calendar page, or at the scheduled time, Kaltura Classroom will begin recording without your intervention. If the live stream option was selected when scheduled, that content will stream in the Blackboard course Media Gallery during the class session.
  7. At the completion of the class, logout of the PC, but do not shut the computer down. Your recording will be processed and stored in your My Media library. If you requested auto-publishing on the request form, the recording will also be automatically published to your Blackboard course Kaltura Media Gallery.
