Frequently Asked Questions

Why is NIU’s LinkedIn Learning account expiring?

Due to budgetary restraints, NIU will not be renewing the license beyond October 26, 2020. Based on our evaluation of NIU's LinkedIn Learning current usage and discussions with university leadership, we could not justify the high cost to the institution to maintain the license for another year.  Due to COVID-19, NIU (like most universities in the country) has been forced to make difficult budgetary decisions. Unfortunately, the LinkedIn Learning license was one of those decisions. If you need assistance identifying alternative options, please reach out to your subject specialist Librarian within University Libraries.

Will LinkedIn Learning instructor playlists be available if a user sets up their own individual LinkedIn Learning account?

Yes, you and all of your students can connect your individual LinkedIn profile to your Learning account. When the LinkedIn profile is connected to the Learning account/profile, all history (course history, learning paths, certifications, etc.) will be saved.

See instructions for connecting profiles for active learners:

  1. Login to LinkedIn Learning
  2. Navigate to Settings (under Me tab > Settings>)
  3. Select Connect to Profile and follow steps to login
