Financial Systems Support
NIU’s Division of Information Technology (DoIT) implements, maintains and supports NIU’s core financial systems. These applications include:
- Blackboard Transact to support financial transactions, monthly statements, and notifications on NIU’s OneCard;
- PeopleSoft Interaction Hub to support the MyNIU portal;
- PeopleSoft Financial Management modules for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, Billing, Budget, General Ledger and Procurement; and
- the Grants database built and managed with Microsoft Access, which will eventually be replaced with the PeopleSoft Grants, Contracts, and Project Costing modules that support both pre- and post-award grants financials.
The PeopleSoft Financial Management modules are monitored with automatic alerts on the database via the Enterprise Manager, but the web and application servers are not actively monitored. The current project to implement the Oracle Exalogic Engineered System of integrated storage, compute, network, operating system and software products will allow for active monitoring across the PeopleSoft Financials ecosystem.
